Reflect on a recent short trip you have taken as a passenger. In all scenarios, assume you are traveling north at a constant non-zero velocity, approaching an intersection and you are in heavy traffic with cars coming and going in all four directions. In complete sentences, comment qualitatively on the magnitude and direction of the relative motion for the following scenarios. You do not need to provide numerical answers, but you do need to say something about the magnitude of the relative velocity and its direction.

1. You are passing a parked vehicle. What is the relative velocity of the parked vehicle relative to you?

2. A southbound car is approaching from ahead traveling with twice the speed of your car. What is your velocity relative to the oncoming car?

3. You and an eastbound truck are approaching the intersection at the same speed. What is your velocity relative to the truck?
