While visiting the amusement park, Sarah and Sam choose to ride the bumper cars while their instructor records video of their collisions. Back in the classroom, the students analyze a head-on collision between Sarah and Sam’s two cars. The velocity of each car after the collision is equal to the velocity of the other car before the collision (i. e., the cars switch velocities).
What can the students infer about the masses of the bumper cars?
Their masses are equal because both momentum and kinetic energy are conserved.
Their masses are unequal because both momentum and kinetic energy are conserved.
Their masses are unequal because neither momentum nor kinetic energy is conserved.
Their masses are unequal because neither momentum nor kinetic energy is conserved.

We all use gps today, even if we don't drive yet. i bet you have been in the car with a parent and they have asked you to get out your phone to find a specific location. in your car, on the phone, you are using a very sophisticated technology. gps satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. gps receivers take this information and use trilateration to calculate the user's exact location. essentially, the gps receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the time it was received. the time difference tells the gps receiver how far away the satellite is. now, with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user's position and display it on the unit's electronic map. what type of signal is utilized by the gps satellite?

4. now look at the green lines you created by connecting the three boiling point data points and the three melting point data points. for each of these lines, describe any trends you see. 5. locate the elements on your periodic table that you circled in green on your graph. what term or description would you use to identify these elements with respect to the periodic table? 7. using the room temperature line (orange line) and your periodic table, make lists that identify the state of matter (gas, liquid, or solid) in which each element you plotted exists at room temperature. explain your answers.
