Jessie was driving her 2000-kg Camry when she dropped her phone. She leaned down to pick it and just then a small child rode his bicycle into the street 45 meters in front of her. She is traveling at 15 m/s (about 30 mph). She sees the boy and slams on the brakes and the car comes to a stop with the bumper of the car just touching the tire of the bike. Whew!! The rigid beam is supported by the three suspender bars. bars ab and ef are made of aluminum and bar cd is made of steel. if each bar has a cross-sectional area of 450 mm2, determine the maximum value of p if the allowable stress is (σallow)st = 200 mpa for the steel and ( σallow)al = 150 mpa for the aluminum. est = 200 gpa and eal = 70 gpa.
