What does a position vs. time graph represent?

Motion can be represented by a position-time graph, which plots position relative to the starting point on the y-axis and time on the x-axis. The slope of a position-time graph represents velocity. The steeper the slope is, the faster the motion is changing.

A position vs time graph represents what position something is at a certain time. Time would be the independent variable, or labeled on the x-axis. Position would be the dependant variable, or labeled on the y-axis.
