PLEASE ANSWER: Students will identify that an electromagnet is controlled with an electrical charge from the battery. Students can take this in 2 different, yet correct directions. 1. They can determine that the battery is not functioning, therefore cannot power the motor, or that there is a malfunction within the motor causing the electromagnet to lose strength. If they do not mention either of these, then encourage them to look at the diagrams and think about what could cause the system to not function correctly.
