Explanation:

when you dive off of a diving board, you first press it downwards with your mass, causing it to store potential energy in it.

when it has a maximum amount of potential energy stored in it, the diving board converts potential energy into kinetic energy and pushes it up in the air.

in the air, again kinetic energy converts into potential energy as gravity pulls one downward.

when the potential energy is maximum, you start to fall back towards the ground and just before you hit the water, all of the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy.

therefore, decreasing the mass of the diver would cause the diving board to store less potential energy than before.

it's when something is going so fast it makes a loud noise, breaking the sound barrier, for example: a jet makes a loud noise, not only cause of the jet but because they reached a point where they went so fast that you can year the noise from various parts, kinda like a police car, lets say the car was going   so fast that you hear the siren of the cop car right next to you, but the car is probably a mile a way, it's cos the siren was next to you a few seconds if you understand me
