Look at the diagram you made for trial 1. It should be similar to the one shown below. The line you drew connecting the incident ray and the ruler line (shown in red) represents the path of light in the glass. A blue square is shown with one normal line drawn at the top of the square and another drawn at the bottom. A line labeled Path of Light Ray is drawn from the top left of the square to where the normal and square intersects. This ray is bent towards the normal as it passes through the square and continues to where the other normal and bottom of the square intersects. This line continues out bending away from the normal. Did the light bend toward or away from the normal as it passed from air into the top of the glass plate? Did the light bend toward or away from the normal as it passed from the bottom of the glass plate into the air?
