Steve and Valerie measure the time it takes for two smooth aluminum spheres to roll down a ramp, and they make a histogram analogous to that made by Dyan and Kelly. The radii of the two spheres are the same (at least, to the precision of their measurement device), but one sphere is hollow while the other is solid.

a. Is this a reasonable test of the effect of mass on the acceleration of a sphere? If not, what would be?
b. Is this a reasonable test of the effect of hollowness? If not, what would be?

Global warming will produce rising sea levels partly due to melting ice caps but also due to the expansion of water as average ocean temperatures rise. to get some idea of the size of this effect, calculate the change in length of a column of water 1.00 km high for a temperature increase of 1.00ΒΊc. note that this calculation is only approximate because ocean warming is not uniform with depth. (answer in Γ—10^{-3} βˆ’3 m)
