White Light
As a form of energy, light has specific properties such as color and brightness. Some properties can only be seen with special tools. Think about properties of light and how color in white light can be investigated.
Which statements are true about light properties and how color in white light can be investigated?
White light can be separated using any glass object.
Light travels in a straight line until it strikes an object.
When white light is separated by a prism, the colors appear in a random order.
The way light reacts when it strikes an object depends on the properties of that object.
When a single-colored light passes through a prism, it becomes white.
As white light passes through a prism , it bends and separates into different colors

Consider a one meter long horizontal pipe with a constant 100 cm^2 cross sectional area. water flows rightward into the pipe at x = 0 with flow velocity 02m/sec at every point within the pipe intake area. at x=1, the rightward flow rate is 0.192 m/sec. assume the water is a conserved quantity in the pipe, so there must be a leak (a sink) somewhere in the pipe. 1. compute net volumetric flow of the source if the system to be in equilibrium. 2. now assume the pipe in the problem has no leaks. compute the net volumetric rate of change for the system.

Large electric fields in cell membranes cause ions to move through the cell wall. the field strength in a typical membrane is 1.0 x 10 7 n/c. what is the magnitude of the force on a calcium ion with charge +e? what is its acceleration? is it possible for a particle with the same charge as as calcium to have a different acceleration if placed at this location? what would change the acceleration: mass of the particle? diameter of the particle?
