An instrument is recorded; the resulting pressure vs. time graph is shown below. You may take 340 m s for the speed of sound in air. If this instrument was a flute (open on both ends), determine the length of the air column that produced this tone. Note: The length of the air column may not be the same as the length of the flute – it depends on the number of keys pressed down! Start with a standing wave diagram and solve from there; no memorized equations, for full credit!
If this instrument was an organ pipe (closed on the left end), determine its minimum possible length. (Start with a diagram again.)
Draw the two standing wave diagrams from the flute and organ pipe, this time one above the other, scaled properly relative to each other. The actual value of the scale isn’t important, but they should be the correct dimensions relative to each other.
What’s happening to the particles at the left ends of each? What’s happening to the air pressure at the left ends of each? Explain why this is the case, in terms of interference and reflection.

The de broglie relation λ=h/p can be rewritten in terms of the wave number k as p=kℏ. recall that wave number is defined by k=2π/λ. using the fact that λ=v/f, find the wave numbers k1 and k2 corresponding to frequencies f1 and f2. express your answer as two expressions
