A glob of very soft clay is dropped from above onto a digital scale. The clay sticks to the scale on impact. The experiment is then repeated, but instead of using the clay glob, a superball with identical mass is dropped from the same height onto the scale. Both the clay and the superball hit the scale 2.9s after they are dropped. Assume that the duration of the collision is the same in both cases and the force exerted by the scale on the clay and the force exerted by the scale on the superball are constant.

Required:
a. Sketch the graph of the superball's velocity vs. time, vball , from the instant it is dropped (t=0sec) until it bounces to its maximum height (t=6sec). Assume that the superball undergoes an elastic collision with the scale, and that the scale's recoil velocity is negligible. The light colored graph already present in the answer window is vclay (t).
b. Based on your graph, is the change in velocity of the superball during its collision with the scale greater than, less than, or equal to the change in velocity of the clay during its collision with the scale?
c. Is the force exerted by the scale on the superball greater than, less than, or equal to the force exerted by the scale on the clay?

Two charged particles, q1 and q2, are located on the x-axis, with q1 at the origin and q2 initially at x1 = 12.2 mm. in this configuration, q1 exerts a repulsive force of 2.62 µn on q2. particle q2 is then moved to x2 = 18.0 mm. what is the force (magnitude and direction) that q2 exerts on q1 at this new location? (give the magnitude in µn.)

Aspring has a relaxed length of 33 cm (0.33 m) and its spring stiffness is 6 n/m. you glue a 76 gram block (0.076 kg) to the top of the spring, and push the block down, compressing the spring so its total length is 15 cm. you make sure the block is at rest, then at time t=0 you quickly move your hand away. the block begins to move upward, because the upward force on the block by the spring is greater than the downward force on the block by the earth. calculate y vs. time for the block during a 0.09-second interval after you release the block, by applying the momentum principle in three steps each of 0.03-second duration.
