Ariver flows due south with a speed of 2.10 m/s. a man steers a motorboat across the river; his velocity relative to the water is 4.50 m/s. the river is 600 m wide.

1. in what direction should the motorboat head in order to reach a point on the opposite bank directly east from the starting point? (the boat's speed relative to the water remains 4.50) answer needs to be in degrees north of east.

2. what is the velocity of the boat relative to the earth? m/s is the units (the book says the answer is 3.98 m/s

3. how much time is required to cross the river? s (sec) is the units ( the book says the answer is 151 s)

Assume you measured the mass of the cart to be (500 ± 1) g and the mass of the additional mass you put on the cart to be (500 ± 1) g as well. since the scale you are using in the lab cannot measure objects heavier than 600g you will have to sum up individual pieces and propagate the error. so what would be the mass and the standard error of the cart and the mass

Global warming will produce rising sea levels partly due to melting ice caps but also due to the expansion of water as average ocean temperatures rise. to get some idea of the size of this effect, calculate the change in length of a column of water 1.00 km high for a temperature increase of 1.00ºc. note that this calculation is only approximate because ocean warming is not uniform with depth. (answer in ×10^{-3} −3 m)
