Problems related to radiation. (a) the temperature of the sun’s photosphere is 5700 k. assume it is a blackbody. what is the peak wavelength (the wavelength of the most typical photon emitted)? (b) the solar radius is 695,000 km. how much energy does the sun emit per unit time, given the radius and temperature? (c) suppose you double the temperature of the sun’s photosphere. how much more energy would it emit per unit time compared to the value you found in part (b)? (d) with the increased temperature, where would be the peak wavelength? would you see that light with your eyes?

The experiment done in lab is repeated, using a ball that has unknown mass m. you plot your data in the form of f 2 versus m/l, with f in rev/s, m in kg, and l in m. your data falls close to a straight line that has slope 3.19 m/(kg · s2). use g = 9.80 m/s2 and calculate the mass m of the ball.

Two conductors, a and b, are each in the shape of a tetrahedron. but of different sizes. they are charged in the following manner: 1. tetrahedron a is charged from an electrostatic generator to charge q. 2. tetrahedron a is briefly touched to tetrahedron b. 3. steps 1 and 2 are repeated until the charge on tetrahedron b reaches a maximum value. if the charge on tetrahedron b was q/4 after the first time it touched tetrahedron a. what is the final charge qbmax on tetrahedron b?

Avertical clean glass piezometer tube has an inside diameter of d = 1 mm and is used to measure pressure in a horizontal pipe carrying water as shown. due to pressure in the pipe, the water at 20c rises into the tube to a height h. if the water pressure in the pipe is p = 500 pa gauge, estimate the height h: (a) without considering surface tension (b) with surface tension (capillary) effects. the contact angle  can be assumed at 30 deg
