hold the tuning forks without gloves on.
we should not strike the tuning fork with anything that is not the rubber mallet, or because striking it with anything else will damage the tuning fork.
change the water level.
we should not let the vibrating fork strike the top of the glass tube because this can cause damage to either the fork or the glass tube.
