First of all, using drugs is a poor decision itself. But, if you want an answer other than that, we might as well get down to it.
1) Going back for more.
-Now, it's pretty much common knowledge that drugs, such as LSD or Heroin are addictive. However, you won't get addict your first or even second time most likely. But you'll probably like the feeling it gives you, especially stressed out and depressed high school and college students. Thus, you go back for more. That's the first poor decision.
2) Not telling anyone you're addicted.
-Now that you've done the drug a few times, you're hooked. You now know this is bad, but if you tell, you'll get in trouble! So it's obviously better to just work it out yourself, right? Nope. Withdrawal is extremely painful, and unless you have no way to access the drug, you'll go right back to it to avoid the pain. That's the second mistake.
3) Getting sucked into the cycle.
-Drugs can be a cycle for some people. Sometimes it can be going to jail, and then going back to drugs. Or it can be getting cleaning, getting a life, then losing it all because of drugs. Or, you could be so addicted to drugs that you start selling them, because you can't get a job.
Let me remind you, this can happen to ANYONE. If you know any friends or family suffering, get them help immediately.
Hope this helped!
