The answer to part B depends on the answer on part A.

So in part A, let S = the total number of students in the school.  7/8 of the students belong in a club, so the total number of students in a club is:

s*(7/8)

Half of those students are in the spirit club, so the number of students in the spirit club is:

s*(7/8)*(1/2) = s*(7/16)

Now in part B, we learn that 3/5 of those students play a sport, which means 2/5 of those students DO NOT PLAY a sport.  Thus the number of students in the spirit club that do not play a sport is:

s*(7/16)*(2/5) = s*(14/80) = s*(7/40)

So 7/40 of the entire school.
