So the area formula for a rectangle is length x width.
We are given the length: 12 and the area so you can plug in the values and you get: 12 x width= 168, if you solve for the width you get, 14 feet. 
To find the perimeter you use the formula: 2(length) + 2(width)
So plug in the values and you get 2(12)+2(14)= 52 feet
