Twice the difference of a number and 3

The expression is written as:

          2 (x − 3) ;  in which "x" represents the number.

           We can simplify this expression by using the
"distributive property of multiplication" ; which states that:

  a(b + c)  = ab +  ac ;

  a(b − c) =  ab − ac ;

As such:

   " 2(x − 3)  = 2*x  −  2* 3 " ;

                    =  2x − 6 .
