The unit's central problem is called "Victory Celebration". This problem talks about fireworks and different variables involved in parabolas. This unit, we have been working with parabolas. We have been asked in many of the unit's problems to find the vertex, vertex form, y intercept, and x intercepts. We used this to answer the final problem because it incorporated these things that we learned about into a word problem about fireworks.

In this problem, I was asked to answer a few questions and create a formula for finding the balance between supply and demand, so that I could help the Widgets company make a good profit.

I started off by answering the first few questions. They were relatively easy. I really just had to fill in numbers into the equation provided and then make my own equation. After that I had to try and find the balance between supply and demand. First I solved for d and then found out what s was.

I started out by using the box method to answer the questions. I think this method is quite simple. I did this for a majority of the questions and than moved on once the parabolas were shown. I used Desmos to figure those out.

To start off, I first changed the problem into vertex form. I did this by doing the box method. Next, I solved vertex form to get the x-intercepts. This was relatively simple.
Quadratic Summary
In this unit, I learned about how to use quadratic equations, equations that make parabolas (data on a graph). I used this to find information, such as a vertex and intercepts. A vertex is the highest point on a graph. The intercepts are where there are two places that cross the x-axis. It also helps you move back and forth from standard form (not y equals) and vertex form (y equals).

A Fireworks Summary
In this problem, the soccer players were trying to figure out different information about launching rockets. They want to know how long the rocket will take to reach the top, know how high the rocket will go, and how long it will be in the air. I found these answers by figuring out the vertex form and solving for the vertex and the x-intercepts. The time to reach the top is 2.875 secs, 292.25 ft high, and 7.1 secs in the air. They tell you how high the rocket hits (vertex) and how long it is in the air along with how long it takes (x-intercepts).
