Naomi has 50 red and white beads. The number of red beads is 1 more than 6 times the number of white beads. How many red beads does Naomi have?

Result
Naomi has 43 red beads.

Solution
I used an algebraic equation and it goes like this: 1 + 6n + n = 50 (this is another equation: 7n + 1 = 50)

n = 7

Evaluate

1 + 6(7) + 7 = 50

1 + 42 + 7 = 50

43 + 7 = 50
