Earthquakes emit both primary and secondary waves at the same time. The primary wave travels at about 8 km/s and the secondary wave travels at about 4.8 km/s. Scientists can estimate the distance to an earthquake by measuring the time difference between the arrival of the two waves. If the time difference between the measured earthquakes is 10 seconds, how far are the earthquakes?
