To factorise you have to find what multiplies to the number without an x and adds to the number with x
What times to 16 and add to 10?
8 and 2
Put these in brackets with x
(x+8)(x+2)=0
To find what x is you need to make both bracket equal zero
The easy way to do this is to flip the sign
x=-8
x=-2
The solutions represent the roots of the graph which is when it crosses the x-axis. The two solutions represent what x would equal when y=0 in this equation.
