An ethologist is interested in determining the average weight of adult Olympic marmots. It would be expensive and impractical to trap and measure the whole population, so a random sampleof 16 adults is trapped and weighed. The sample has a mean of 7.8 kg and a standard deviation of 0.49. Required:
a. Does the Central Limit Theorem apply?
b. What is the sampling distribution of the mean? In particular, what is the standard deviation of the sampling distribution of the mean, the standard error?
c. Find the 95% confidence interval for the average weight of adult Olympic marmots.
