When over 600 statistics teacher, professors and researchers gather together for a week of grading AP* exams, you never know what kind of festivities might occur. One of the recent events is a 2- mile fun run. Over 150 of the teachers run or walk over a 2-mile course. Naturally, an event like this gives opportunity for some data collection! To add to the fun, many of the participants try to estimate the time that it will take them to complete the run. The data below is the estimated time and the actual time, in total seconds, for each runner Your task is to run a regression analysis of these data and report your findings. Your report should include the following elements: A regression equation for the two variables, including interpretation and residual plot An explanation of why the organizers used the equation y x to choose the winner The winner with the best estimate (provide justification) A description and analysis of how the residual plot shows the difference between the estimates of runners vs. walkers Est.
