x³ + x² - x² - x + 4x + 4 = 18
x²(x + 1) - x(x + 1) + 4(x + 1) = 18
(x + 1)(x² - x + 4) = 18
x² - x + 4 = 18/(x + 1)
x² - x + 4 - 6 = 18/(x + 1) - 6
x² - x - 2 = 18/(x + 1) - 6
(x - 2)(x + 1) = (18 - 6(x + 1))/(x + 1)
(x - 2)(x + 1) = (18 - 6x - 6)/(x + 1)
(x - 2)(x + 1) = (12 - 6x)/(x + 1)
(x - 2)(x + 1) = (-6(x - 2))/(x + 1)
x + 1 = (-6(x - 2))/(x + 1)(x - 2)
