A motor supplies 70 kW at 1500 rpm to the flange A. Shaft (1) is solid with 25 mm diameter and shaft (2) is solid with 40 mm diameter. Both shafts are made of steel (G = 80 GPa). The number of bolts used at flange A is 5 and they are arranged along a circle of 30 mm radius (i. e. R = 30 mm). The bolts are steel having allowable shear stress of 65 MPa . The gear fixed to shaft AB has 100 mm diameter and it is engaged to gear C which has 300 mm diameter. If the bearings at B and D permit free rotation of the shafts, then;
