I want to know whether people are likely to offer a different amount for a used camera when buying from a friend than buying from a stranger. I plan to test whether the difference between the mean amounts is zero. I have bid prices from 8 subjects buying from a friend and 7 buying from a stranger, found in a randomized experiment.
Data found is:
From a friend: sample size is 8, mean is $281.88 and the standard deviation is $18.31
From a stranger: sample size is 7, mean is $211.43 and the standard deviation is $46.43
