Mr. Murphy gave Mr. Odierna a coin that he claimed turns up heads more than it should. Mr. Odierna decided to test out Mr. Murphy’s hypothesis. He decided that if he tossed the coin and got a result that would happen less than 1% of the time if the coin were fair, then the hypothesis may be correct.
Part A - What is the smallest Chi-Square value that would make Mr. Odierna believe Mr. Murphy?
6.635 (answer to this one)
Part B - For 100 flips, what would be the observed results that lead to this Chi-Square value? Round to the nearest whole numbers.
Part C - If he only flipped the coin four times, could he make a determination about whether the coin is fair or not? Explain your reasoning using the chi-squared statistic.
Can someone explain how to get these answers as well?
