The Trans-Alaskan Pipeline pumps on average 500,000 barrels of oil everyday from the northern slope of Alaska down to Valdez port in the southern part of the state. The pipeline is 800.3 miles long which is farther than Dardanelle to San Antonio, Texas. The four foot diameter pipeline was completed in 1977 for the bargain basement price of $8,000,000,000. CRAZY!?! There are 12 pump stations along the pipeline that keep the crude oil moving. The crude oil around the world is sold by the barrel(5.61ft3) at current cost of $65.94 each . What is the value of the oil in the pipeline? Explain.
