What is the equation of the translated function, g(x), if f(x) = x2?

An equation is said to be translated if it is shifted from its original position. A translation can be upwards, downwards, to the left or to the right.
For example
A translation of the function f(x) = x^2, one units upwards will result in g(x) = x^2 + 1.
