How do you find domain and range of a square root function

The domain of a function consists of the values the independent variable can take on, whereas range is a set which consists of the values the dependent variable will take on. Independent variable is usually represented by "x" whereas dependent variable is represented by "y". Square-root function can be written as:
y= √x 
Start putting the values for "x" and see what values come up for "y". Make a table to show the values of "x" and of "y".
x: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
y: 1,4,9,16,25,36,49,64,81,100

In this way, we can find out the Domain and Range of a square root function.

If "x" starts taking negative values the "y" will start taking imaginary values involving iota.
