Why does the problem equal 1/y^2+9?
after multiplying the second fraction by -1 to make the denominators equal, then adding, and then simplified the y^2 on the top and the y^4 on the bottom you get 1/y^2-81. how does the 81 turn into a 9? and once it is a nine, why don't you simplify it to (y-3)(y+3)?

(it is customary to list these values in numerical order, but it is not required. sets are called "unordered lists", so you can list the numbers in any order you feel like. just don't duplicate: technically, repetitions are okay in sets, but most instructors would count off for this.)
