Having trouble working out and getting the answer for #5

Patio area = backyard area - pool area
= 7x10 - (pi)2^2 = 57.43 sq.cm
1cm = 3ft ; 1 sqcm = 9 sq.ft
patio area = 57.43x9 = 516.87
answer is b

Best answer that i found on yahoo ok   set :   x= length of 2nd piece in cm  x- 3= length of 1st piece in cm  x-4= length of 3rd piece in cm  then since you know they all came from the 20 cm ribbon you add them together and set them equal to 20x+ x-3 +x-4 = 20  3x - 7= 20  3x= 27  x= 9  the shortest piece is the third piece which is x- 4  x-4  9-4 = 5  the length of the smallest piece is 5 cm.  the other lengths are  9 cm  6 cm

i think there was a typo. you wrote pat brings 3 quarts of ice-cream to the party. each serving of ice-cream is 1 6 quart. how many total servings of ice-cream does pat bring to the party? i think the bold is supposed to be 1/6. so 1 quart of ice cream = 6 servings. 6 * 3 = 18.

the answer is 18.
