2/12 or 1/6 because round to the nearest denominator which is 12 then multiply the top number by how much you need to multiply the denominator to get 12.

1) multiply the fractions to achieve a common denominator (I chose 24)
2) add the numerators = 18/24
3) simplify =3/4
4) subtract 3/4 from 1. 1 would be here total amount. She spent 3/4 of her allowance so 1/4 is left
