What fraction is greater 1/4 or 3/10

1/4... Unlike with whole numbers, the smaller denominator is greater.   

First, we need to make them into equivalent fractions. 
1/4    3/10
we can multiply 4 by 10 for the denominator.
so for the fraction 1/4, you need to multiply both numbers by 10.
1/4 ⇒ 10/40
and for the fraction 3/10, you need to multiply both numbers by 4.
3/10 ⇒ 12/40
12/40 is greater than 10/40
and 12/40 is 3/10, so 3/10 is greater than 1/4
