A food-packing facility is found to have released a contaminated batch ofmpackaged delicacies. These are unhappily commingled with a much larger ship-ment ofnuncontaminated items from another facility. And to compound themisfortune, the packaging from the two facilities is identical so that the batchescannot be visually separated: the only way to identify whether a package iscontaminated or not is to open it and visually inspect it, rendering it unfortu-nately unsaleable. Upper management decides to salvage what is possible byopening one package at a time until allmcontaminated items have been found.
