A case-control study was conducted to assess the relationship of alcohol consumption and myocardial infarction (MI). Cases were men aged 40 to 65 years who had suffered their first MI during the six months prior to recruitment into the study. A group of age-matched men who had never experienced an MI were selected as controls.
