You are creating three different flower beds in your backyard made up of similar trapezoids. The height of the trapezoid of flower bed A is 2 feet, the height of flower bed B is 3 feet, and the height of flower bed C is 4 feet. The perimeter of flower bed A is 12 ft. and the area of flower bed A is 7 square feet.
1. You need to buy soil to fill each of the flower beds. If a bag of soil will cover 2 square feet, how many bags of soil will you need for each of the flower beds?
2. You need 3 bottles of fertilizer for flower bed A. How many bottles of fertilizer would you need to purchase for flower beds B and C?
3. You plan to build a fence around each of your flower gardens to keep pests away. Fencing costs $5 per linear foot, how much would it cost to build a fence around each flower bed?
What would be the total cost to build all three fences?
4. A rabbit broke a portion of the fence, and a 5-foot section needs to be replaced. Considering you can only buy fencing 10 feet at a time, would you have enough extra fencing from your original purchase in question 3 to repair the damaged section of the fence? Explain your reasoning.
