I= p×5%×8 simple

I+36.60=p ((1+5%)^8-1) compound

as p is same for both

I/(5%×8) = I+36.60/((1+5%)^8 -1)

by solving equation I= 190.12

p=190.12/(5%×8)

p=475.3

set each factor equal to 0

4x-3 = 0

2x-1 = 0

solve for x.

4x-3=0

4x=3

x= 3/4

solve for x. 

2x-1= 0

2x= 1

x= 1/2

your answer should be 1/2 is less than or equal to x and 3/4 is greater than or equal to x
