Read the following passage: Traci couldn't figure out why the date had gone poorly. She
had invested in the best facial analysis technology to apply
her makeup and style her hair. Her outfit had been carefully
coordinated by a program that had scanned Bob's browser
history and personal photos to respond to his preferences.
Throughout the date, she followed the prompting of her
auditory implant exactly in order to sound sophisticated,
witty, and flirtatious. Why couldn't she get a man to show
interest in her? That's it, Traci decided. Tomorrow I'm
buying myself a subliminal idea implanter to take on dates.
What is one way the author uses irony to convey her message?
A. By having Traci decide to buy a new device, the author shows that
Traci's previous efforts have been misdirected
O B. By having Traci's computer-aided efforts fail, the author shows
that technology cannot slyster emotional interactions.
0 C. By having Bob show little interest in Traci, the author shows that
some people do not value technological advances.
O D. By having computerized devices do Traci's work for her, the author
shows that society has become fractured.
