I don't know what a comparison statement is, but

8 slices of bread:4 eggs

For every 8 slices of bread, there are 4 eggs.  Sound familiar?

THIS IS A RATIO

8:4 simplified = 4:2 = 2:1 = 1:1/2

The ratio of bread:eggs is 1:1/2

1/2 egg is used for each slice of bread.

1 slice of bread would need half an egg.
Explanation: 8 --> 1
                   4 --> __
To make 8 become 1 is to divide by 8.
So 4 divided by 8 is 0.5, which is half.
8 --> 1
4 --> 1/2 or 0.5
