One text structure that you might see in an informational text is cause and effect. Cause and effect shows a relationship between events. Something happens and causes something else to happen. Doing a Research Paper in Class Read "Why I Was Late," by Sarah Marino. Then write at least five examples of cause and effect relationships that use linking words and/or phrases. Remember that cause and effect relationships involve a cause and a result. The cause is why something happens. The effect is what happens as a result of that. Why I Was Late by Sarah Marino I am usually never late for school, but this morning was just a disaster! First, my dog, Zeus, found a spot in the fence from which to escape. Then my mom had to chase after him all the way to Miss Clara's house down the block. As a result, she was late waking me up, so I was late getting out of bed to get ready. I got up to wash my face and brush my teeth. I got dressed in a rush, and forgot to put on my socks. Meanwhile, my mom was rushing like crazy because she was now late herself. She forgot about my waffle in the toaster, and it got burnt so badly that it turned black. I yelled to her in her bathroom, and she told me to eat cereal instead. My dad always forgets where the cereal goes and puts it on top of the fridge instead of in the pantry. I had to get a chair to reach the cereal, so that took another few minutes of time that I didn't have. I tried to eat the cereal as fast as I could, but then my mom rushed out and told me to get my lunch or I'd miss the bus. I complained that I was still hungry, so she went to the pantry and spent too much time looking for a granola bar. I stood at the kitchen table waiting, and I groaned as I heard the screech of the school bus. I ran to the door, but the bus was already moving down the street. I told my mom that I was sorry, and she told me that it was okay. I ate the granola bar as she gulped down a yogurt. Then I realized I had no socks on and ran to get some. My mom drove me to school on her way to work.

It appears that people who are mildly obese are less active than leaner people. one study looked at the average number of minutes per day that people spend standing or walking. among mildly obese people, the mean number of minutes of daily activity (standing or walking) is approximately normally distributed with mean 376 minutes and standard deviation 64 minutes. the mean number of minutes of daily activity for lean people is approximately normally distributed with mean 528 minutes and standard deviation 107 minutes. a researcher records the minutes of activity for an srs of 7 mildly obese people and an srs of 7 lean people. use z-scores rounded to two decimal places to answer the following: what is the probability (image for it appears that people who are mildly obese are less active than leaner people. one study looked at the averag0.0001) that the mean number of minutes of daily activity of the 6 mildly obese people exceeds 420 minutes? what is the probability (image for it appears that people who are mildly obese are less active than leaner people. one study looked at the averag0.0001) that the mean number of minutes of daily activity of the 6 lean people exceeds 420 minutes?
