Derek heard someone say that high school quarterbacks in Texas are almost all more than 6
feet tall. Derek wonders about the validity of that statement. He decides to collect some
data to estimate the mean height of high school quarterbacks playing in the state of Texas.
Since it is impractical to try to measure every quarterbackβs height personally, Derek decides
to randomly collect a sample of the heights of 15 Texas high school quarterbacks.
The quarterback heights, to the nearest inch, Derek collected are:
69β, 72β, 75β, 68β, 70β, 67β, 75β, 73β, 69β, 71β, 74β, 75β, 68β, 70β, 73β
Using this data, estimate the population mean of the heights of high school quarterbacks in
Texas to the nearest inch
