A rectangular swimming pool has a length twice as long as its width. Around the edge of the pool is a sidewalk that is 2 feet wide.
1. Use variables to write two expressions, one for the total length and one the total width (including the sidewalk).
2. Given that the area of a rectangle is found using Area = Length x Width, use the two expressions you created above to make a new expression that gives the area of the entire figure. Be sure to simplify fully and show your work.
