1. z = 10 6. x = 1 11. z = 1
2. c = 6 7. a = 5 12. c = 9
3. y = 8 8. c = 6 13. x = 9
4. c = 2 9. x = 7 14. u = 10
5. c = 5 10. u = 3. 15. c = 7
Step-by-step explanation:
NOTE: Please do not worry when you see all of this writing this is just me breaking everything down into small steps. These problems literally take 10 seconds! When solving these types of equations your going to want to follow the following steps:
1. Draw a line through the equal (=) sign this helps keep your work organized
2. Start on the side of your variable. This means your going to make your first official step on the side with the variable. Ex- 2v
3. Operate on the constant. (number without the variable). I like to use the word operate because this can change. For example with #1 when the problem says 3z + 4 = 34 you are going to want to SUBTRACT 4 from 4. If the problem where subtracting by 4 you would add by 4.
4. The number you operated on cancels out. Basically this number is gone you don’t have to worry about it! Ex- in #1 the number 4.
5. Operate on the other side of the line/behind the equal sign. Your going to operate ( add or subtract like you just did) by the SAME number on the other side. Example- in #1 we subtracted by 4 so now we are going to subtract 34 from 4. ( 34 - 4 = 30)
6. Bring down your values. Basically just write 3z = 30 so we can continue the next part of the problem and be organized. (if you haven’t caught on organization is key!!!)
7. Now your equation should look like this 3z = 30. BUT your not done yet this has to be simplified so like earlier you need to operate but this time you will either be multiplying or divding. We will be divding because 3 and z are next to each other.
8. Operate! Divide 3 by 3 but that cancels out so we are left with z! Do the same thing on the other side and divide 30 by 3 which gives us 10!
I hope this helps you please let me know if you have any other questions!
