The path of this jump can be modeled by the equation f (x) = -(x - 5)2 + 4 , where f(x) is the frog’s height above the water and x is the number of seconds since the frog jumped. Sutro the Fly is cruising by at a height of 5 feet above the water.

a. Can Jambo the Frog catch Sutro the fly without jumping? How do you know?

b. Is the extremum a maximum or a minimum? Why?
