2.)   (2x^3+x^2-5)+(x^2+x+6)

add the highest common powers together

x^2+x^2=2x^2

add the constants

-5+6=1

put it all together in descending in from powers

2x^3+2x^2+x+1

3.) (3x^3-5x^2+3) -(x^3+2x^2-x-4)

subtract the highest common powers

3x^3-x^3=2x^3

subtract the next highest common powers

-5x^2-2x^2=-7x^2

subtract the constants

3-(-4)=7

put it all together in descending in from powers

2x^3-7x^2-x+7
