Read the following scenario and develop a method for answering the question posed. Be sure to define all variables used, justify your thinking mathematically, and fully
answer the questions posed in complete sentences.
Each car on a freight train can hold at most 3000 pounds of cargo and has no more than a
capacity of 288 cubic feet. The freight service handles two types of packages, small. x.
which weigh 25 pounds and are 3 cubic feet each and large, y, which are 50 pounds and
are 4 cubic feet each.
The freight service charges $6 for each small package and $7 for each large package. How
many of each type of package should be placed on a train car to maximize revenue? What is
the maximum revenue? Create a graph by hand to show your solution. Write a complete
sentence or two explaining in detail what you find. Show all possible work as it is all part of
the total score. (hint: scale on graph should be by 12)
