Katherine's teacher asked Katherine to explain a specific homework problem to her. Teacher: "Katherine, explain to me which number is greater: −4.35 OR −435 , or are they equal?

Katherine: "I think that they are equal."

Teacher: "You do? Why is that?"

Katherine: "It is because if you write −435 as a decimal, it would be −4.35, so they are equal!"
