Which is the most efficient way to solve this equation?

x + 7 = 12

The way i would do it , i would flip the 7 over the equal sign and every time you flip a number over an equal sign that number turns the opposite so in this case, 7 turns to -7 and then you would get -7 + 12, which is 5.
